Hey, guys! I was soooo excited getting the opportunity to guest post for Megan! I am a big fan of her blog and am just thrilled to be here. When we were bouncing ideas back and forth on what I should write, we came up with something great for you guys. “Something I have learned,” is a great way for you guys to get to know me a little and something I can share with Meg’s readers. With all of that being said, I am going to share three things I have learned so you do not have to. If you are going through any of these things or feel defeated, I hope these help in some way.
People are Not Always What They Seem
Have you ever heard the phrase “be careful who you trust because even salt looks like sugar?” In my 24 years of life, I have learned just how true that is. I have come to the realization that even though people may seem like they the BEST of intentions for you, that may not always be true. I know trusting people is incredibly hard for some people but you have to try. Someone that you have known for 5 days could have better intentions for you than someone you have known for 15 years. The most important thing to remember is that people are inherently good. People want good things for you generally although some people want good things for you as long as it is benefitting them. YOU are good enough without ANYONE’s approval. You do not need people to like you nor do you “need” people. You are complete without them, but please please expect good things from people. Know that you are worthy of all the love in the world and even though people are not always what they seem, you will find your tribe. You will find the people who love you endlessly through all your ups and all your downs. Do not give up on people, even the bad ones had good intentions at one time. One last time, people are not always what they seem, but that does not always mean they are bad. Do not judge a book by its cover. Live your best life. Let people in.
Every day is a Chance to Start Over
Have you ever made a mistake? Of course! Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing that people forget is that every single day is a chance to start over. You do not have to hold your mistakes against yourself and no one should hold your mistakes against you. Anyone who pretends that they have never made a mistake is a liar and those people are not the ones you need in your life. Stop beating yourself up over things you can not change. You messed up on your diet, you forgot to return a phone call, you did not make the best grade on your test? OH WELL. These things do not define who you are because guess what? Tomorrow is a new day. Stop wasting your life away by being mad at making mistakes. They happen, they are how we learn. So, learn from your mistakes and MOVE ON. Be happy and stop being afraid to live life due to mistakes. Tomorrow, you can start over.
Loving Yourself is A Priority, Not an Option
Did I say priority? YOU BET!! You are here for a reason. Whether you are religious or believe in the Universe, for some reason or another, you are here for a reason. You get this one life so please love yourself. You need to love yourself. I get so sad when I see people beating themselves up over the simplest of things. Stop letting social media, a tv show, or even a magazine tell you how to be. Your weight, height, race, sexuality, whatever it may be IS OKAY. You are so loved by people who do not even know you. I have learned that self love is the most important thing in this entire life. If you can love yourself, you can love other people too. Never let anyone tell you that you do not matter because I promise you do. Make it a priority every day to find something you love about yourself. You can love your personality, your eyelashes, your smile. Work every day to find what you love. Self love does not come easy, but it is so worth it.
