The Magic of Birthdays

More than most people are probably thinking that I’m crazy for doing a month of blogging (even though I’ve missed a few days) because it’s my birthday month. The thing is that I like to celebrate birthdays, not even just my birthday. I’m usually the person who plans the parties for my friends or make sure that we do something, it’s just my thing. I love being able to have one day that is for you. And yes, even when you have the same birthday as someone else, you should still be able to enjoy the day.

Your birthday is the day that you were born, the day you came into this world, it’s the one day where I believe you should be able to be a little vain. Birthday’s are an amazing thing and when people say that you shouldn’t be celebrating, I think they weren’t raised in the same atmosphere.

Growing up, I had birthday parties every single year. I’m not saying that they were big parties but we celebrated in some fashion. And it was always the one day that I got to really be selfish or enjoy myself. Those are honestly some of the best memories I have from being a kid. So, why are birthdays so important to celebrate?

You need a day to just be happy.

A lot, a ton, of people, probably think that this statement makes no sense, but if you think about it, it does. Sometimes, it can be hard to be happy, trust me I know, but it’s the truth. Sometimes, the year hasn’t been that great and you just need a reason to be happy. Your birthday is that day. Even if you have to kind of force it, do it. Be happy, because it’s the one day that is okay for you to be selfish or even vain.

As a kid, it’s important to feel loved.

I have a few friends with kids and they don’t really celebrate the kids birthdays. When I’ve asked in the past they say that it just seems crazy to celebrate birthdays. And then I have friends who say that they didn’t have birthday parties growing up and that they don’t understand why have them. Regardless of the size, the amount of money spent and how many people are around, it’s so important to celebrate. There is a sense of love that come with having everyone around you focus on you.

Celebrating is such an amazing thing.

Do y’all know what’s fun? Having a party with people you care about! Simple, simple and simple. Celebrating is so simple, or as simple as you make it. Celebrating can going to dinner with the fam, going to a movie with your boyfriend/girlfriend, having friends over, etc. It can be anything, as big or small as you want. Who doesn’t love celebrating? So go, celebrate!

Hope y’all understand the magic of birthdays, and if you don’t maybe this will help out more!

I love birthday parties! Although I tend to get stressed at planning the details, so I think I’ll try your approach:)

Yes! Yes to all of the above. Birthdays are wonderful and should always be celebrated in one capacity or another. 🙂

My mom always made such a big deal about birthdays when we were growing up! She still does! Last year, I turned 28 and she threw me a pug-themed party! If that doesn’t make you feel special, happy and loved– I don’t know what will! Birthdays are so important! If you don’t celebrate the special days then every day is the same!

      Ah! That is simply amazing!
